Attila Homonna, based in the village of Erdőbénye in Tokaj, Hungary, established his winery in 1999 with a focus on producing high-quality dry wines from indigenous grape varieties. He specifically sought out old vineyards planted with traditional clones of Furmint and Hárslevelű, with vines aged between 40 to 50 years.
The vineyards are farmed organically, situated on soils of volcanic origin mixed with loess and clay, contributing to the wine’s unique character. The grapes are hand-harvested, and the wine is fermented and aged in barrels until Attila determines it is ready for bottling. This meticulous process results in a wine that combines weight with finesse, showcasing minerality, acidity, and depth.
The Tokaji Furmint-Hárslevelű displays aromas of honey, minerals, and stone, with flavors of peach, apple, and pear. It pairs well with dishes such as pork, shellfish, vegetarian fare, poultry, and lean fish.
